7 Days Nairobi - Mombasa Safari

Naivasha/2 Nights Masai Mara/Nairobi/ Amboseli/Tsavo West

About Lake Elementaita

Elmenteita is derived from the Masaai word muteita, meaning "dust place", a reference to the dryness and dustyness of the area, especially between January and March. The town of Gilgil is near the lake. In the south-to-north sequence of Rift Valley lakes, Elmenteita is between Lake Naivasha and Lake Nakuru. The major Nairobi-Nakuru highway (A104 Road) runs along the nearby escarpment affording motorists a spectacular vista towards the lake. Today the lake is a protected area due to its birdlife fame and also it has been named as one of the heritage sites together with the Lake Nakuru and Lake Bogoria.

About Lake Naivasha

Lake Naivasha National Park is located in Nakuru County in the Great Rift Valley, North-West of Nairobi capital. The park is composed of a fresh water lake with a surface area of 139km2. The lake is surrounded by green vegetation forming a habitat for over 400 bird species. The quiet scenery of the park favors the existence of plenty of arrays of wildlife animals, from Buffalos, hippopotamus, Klipspringer, Giraffe, Baboons, Hartebeest, Eland Thompson's Gazelle and sometimes Leopard and Cheetah.

About Masai Mara

The Maasai Mara National Reserve or the Mara as its popularly known, boasts for sheltering various wild animals like the lion, cheetah and other animals that annually migrate to and from Tanzania to the Masai Mara like the Gazelles, wildebeest and zebras and many more. During a game drive, you are likely to view the big 5 which is something most tourists coming to Kenya hope to see. Rainy seasons usually start from November all through to May with December being the peak. As for the dry seasons, expect them anywhere from June to November. The Mara is magnificent, home to Kenya's richest concentration of wildlife, and regarded by many travelers as an essential stop on any tour of Africa. When westerners think of Africa and safari, this is place they imagine - golden grassland plains pocked with acacia, wildebeests, zebras, lions, and jackals bound together by the cycle of life and death. Three days here will only scratch at the surface of the wonders of the Mara.

About Masai Mara Sopa Lodge

Located high on the slopes of the Oloolaimutia Hills, Masai Mara Sopa Lodge was one of the first safari lodges to be built in the Maasai Mara Game Reserve, a reason why its gardens and trees are so lush and mature. All the buildings follow the design of traditional African round houses with conical roofs, and these stretch along the line of the hills with the impressively large public area buildings and the swimming pool at their centre.

About Nairobi

Nairobi is the capital and the largest city of Kenya. The name comes from the Maasai phrase Enkare Nairobi, which translates to "cool water", a reference to the Nairobi River which flows through the city. The city is popularly referred to as the Green City in the Sun. Nairobi was founded in 1899 by the colonial authorities in British East Africa, as a rail depot on the Railway. The town quickly grew to replace Machakos as the capital of Kenya in 1907. After independence in 1963, Nairobi became the capital of the Kenya. During Kenya's colonial period, the city became a centre for the colony's coffee, tea and sisal industry. The city lies on the River Athi in the southern part of the country, and has an elevation of 1,795 metres (5,889 ft) above sea level. Nairobi is the 10th-largest city in Africa, including the population of its suburbs. Home to thousands of Kenyan businesses and over 100 major international companies and organisations, including the United Nations Environment Programme (UN Environment) and the United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON), Nairobi is an established hub for business and culture. The Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) is one of the largest in Africa and the second-oldest exchange on the continent. It is Africa's fourth-largest exchange in terms of trading volume, capable of making 10 million trades a day.

About Amboseli Sopa

Set in 200 acres of private land, and with a rustic charm all of its own, the lodge nestles in the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro which, at almost six thousand metres, is Africa’s highest and most famous snowcapped mountain. It was this region of Kenya that, in the 1930’s, inspired Ernest Hemingway’s unforgettable stories ‘The Snows of Kilimanjaro’ and ‘The Short, Happy Life of Francis Macomber’ which were turned into more than successful feature films in the late 1940’s due to their renowned actors. All forms of wildlife still abound in this wilderness which continues all the way to the Amboseli National Park, an easy twenty minute drive away from the lodge.

About Taita Game Sanctuary

This is a private game sanctuary separated from the vast Tsavo west only by a road. Animals roam freely between the two areas and in the hills that dot this sanctuary. The Hills are home to a wide variety of game including Lion, cheetah, and elephant and plains game. Bird life includes the extremely rare Taita Falcon, a bird recorded in early Egyptian hieroglyphics. This region is more remote than the most of the other visited parks and reserves in Kenya, the perfect destination for anyone looking for an opportunity to get away from it all and relax in the wild. The Sanctuary, established in 1972 covers a protected area of 28,000 acres (approximately 110 sq. kms or 44 sq. miles) rising to an altitude of 1,200 meters above sea level (3,600 ft.). It consists mainly of plains and woodlands, with typical riverbank vegetation along the water course.

About Tsavo West

Tsavo West National Park is a wilderness featured in the southern parts of Kenya. It has vast inhabited plains which make it one of the favorite tourist destinations. The park stretches from Chyulu Hills to the Tanzanian border. It is a wild land of broken volcanic hills, and dense acacia woodland. The wildlife densities are lower compared to Tsavo East and Masai Mara but it provides diversity.

About Amboseli

Amboseli National Park is one of Kenya's most well-known nature reserves. This wide extend of savannah and swampland includes the generally dry Lake Amboseli, and quite a bit of it is inside sight of Tanzania's forceful snow-topped Kilimanjaro. Supplementing this sensational scene are powerful crowds of elephants, the recreation center's greatest draw. Head to Observation Hill for the absolute most noteworthy perspectives; early morning and late evening are best to spot these magnificent creatures
